It’s that time of year when many models get their wings and sway everyone with their glittery catwalks. It’s the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show that gives them these wings and makes them look like an angel. It’s not common for the establishment to disclose all details, but more than 50 models have already been confirmed to walk the ramp this year. And of the bunch booked, 18 will flaunt their sparkly underwear in the company of millions of viewers for the very first time. Breaking yet another stereotype, Winnie Harlow is among these 18 beauties. She has officially become the first model with vitiligo to walk the ramp for Victoria’s Secret.
The Victoria’s Secret is considered the pinnacle of modeling jobs and a career game-changer. It can turn any unknown face into a supermodel overnight. Over the past few days, models from different backgrounds and nationalities have taken to social media to share heartwarming posts about how it feels to secure a spot in the show for the first time. Winnie, who didn’t make to the show last year, was thrilled to announce that she had made it this time around. She will be representing the vitiligo community among all Victoria’s Secret Angels in November.
Winnie shed some happy tears and was captured on the camera. She, later on, shared this video with her fans on social media. This was followed by all online support groups, including Unite For Vitiligo, showing love and reposting her video.
Terming it as the most nerve-wracking casting of her life, Winnie thanked her mother in the post for praying with her every day. She also thanked her fans who have been pushing her forward to this point in her career.
Recently, Harlow walked the ramp at New York Fashion Week and was honored with the ‘Breakthrough Model of The Year’ award at Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media Awards. She was presented the award by none other than, Nicky Minaj.
