Vitiligo & Workplace – 6 Ways to slay Monotony

workplace and vitiligo

Even if you have been trying hard to shift your focus from vitiligo, a fixed work schedule can contribute to making you depressed and make you think (even more) about your life before vitiligo. It would be great if you could go for a long trip to reset your button and forget about work, but how many working vitiligo fighters can do that? Not so many.

What you can do is enjoying your hectic schedule with a series of happiness-boosting activities that can help you fight monotony at work and keep negative thoughts at bay. Wondering how you can do that? Here we go:

1 Give it a thought.

Even though your job is tedious, you still need to do it. If you do the boring jobs with an eye to quality, your boss will notice you. If your work is shoddy and pathetic, you’d better believe your boss will notice that, too. Adjust your mindset. You can always find ways to boost your productivity.

2 Organize the tasks.

The monotonous job goes along much easier if you divide it into smaller chunks. Not only does this give you the feeling of making progress, but it also prevents missing details. Before you consider your job is finished, get up, take a break, and get re-focused to check the final product.

3 De-clutter your workspace.

Don’t clutter your workspace with stuff you don’t need. Once your work area is clear, gather supplies for the next phase of the job. Get a personalized object that makes you happier when you look at it. After all, your working space should help you improve productivity.

4 Get more involved in your work.

Learn something new – a new skill, a new subfield, or anything that gives you a brain thrill. Research a new idea that you can build on. If you have some free time, make the most out of it by catching up with the latest news.

5 Take a break

Take a break once per hour and a half. Stand up, stretch, and clear your head so that you can get back to the task with fresher eyes.If you are feeling uncomfortable in your chair, get up and take a walk, talk to a friend or grab some coffee.

During the break, do something engaging, something that makes you happy. You can fight monotony at work with a quick game break with your colleagues. The 15 minutes you spend playing can positively impact the next couple of hours.

6 Listen to music

Listen to music as you work. It decreases stress levels and can put you in a great mood. Agreed that it might have an impact on your productivity, but where there’s a will, there’s a way. If you are looking for motivation, we have a list of songs that can help you embrace positivity in vitiligo.
