Just like every year, World Vitiligo Day (WVD), an annual event observed on June 25th to raise awareness about vitiligo, is all set to support individuals living with the condition and promote research for effective treatments. Since 2011 WVD has gained global recognition, bringing together vitiligo patients, healthcare professionals, and organizations to advocate for better understanding and acceptance. 13 years down the line, World Vitiligo Day 2024 is ready to provide us an opportunity for:

  • Raising awareness to increase public awareness about vitiligo, debunk vitiligo, and educate people about its causes, symptoms, and available treatments
  • Encouraging acceptance to promotes inclusivity and acceptance of people with vitiligo, enlightening society to embrace diversity and combat stigma and discrimination
  • Supporting research to supports research initiatives to find better vitiligo treatments, and improve the quality of life for those living with it
  • Providing a platform for individuals with vitiligo to connect, share experiences, and access support from patient advocacy groups and healthcare professionals

Know More About World Vitiligo Day 2024

Each year, World Vitiligo Day is officially hosted by a different country. In 2023, it was the turn of Kazakhstan to act as campaign headquarters for all World Vitiligo Day activities. This year the global WVD headquarters has been shifted to Cali, Colombia. All WVD 2024 activities will be conducted under the “United by the Skin / Unidos Por la Piel” theme.

In the USA, the 2024 WVD conference is being organized in Indianapolis, Indiana between June 21 and 23. In Europe, Vitiligo Society is planning a big vitiligo awareness event on June 25. At 7 pm, the organization will be hosting several incredible speakers sharing information, tips, and advice on how to live well with vitiligo. The event takes place over Zoom to welcome an incredible mix of experts and community ambassadors from around the UK to share their knowledge, experience, and personal stories with you. The panel of experts includes Dr Alia Ahmed, a Consultant Dermatologist and Site Clinical Lead for Dermatology at Frimley Health Foundation Trust and Aimee Mckay, Miss Great Britain Glasgow, and Vitiligo Society Ambassadors Reuben, Nirjeet, Joti Gata-Aura, and professor Andrew Thompson. In The Netherlands, Vitiligo NL will organize a physical WVD event at The Metal Cathedral in Utrecht.
