7 Ways to Spring Clean your Mind and Embrace Positivity in vitiligo

spring clean vitiligo

Every now and then, all vitiligo fighters find it hard to remain positive and maintain a constructive approach toward addressing stranger stares and unwanted comments. It is a huge learning process for all of us to overcome negativity in vitiligo. But, if you spring clean your mind every now and then, you will be in a positive space to live happier with vitiligo.

Here are 7 steps that can pull you back into feeling like yourself again and make you the best version of yourself.

1. Express yourself

When you spring clean your house, you need to get rid of all the junk that’s there. Similarly, when you are about to spring clean your mind, it’s essential to clear out what’s been built up. Just talk about your vitiligo experiences to somebody very important to you and you will feel so much better. If you really feel like you can’t talk to anybody, write it out to yourself.

2. Stay inspired

It is always good to know that you have a good source of inspiration to stay motivated. Listen to audio books, watch YouTube videos or peruse anything that’s going to give you that burst of inspiration and motivation to think more positively. Here is the list of:

7 Movies with motivational lessons for vitiligo fighters
10 Motivational Songs to embrace positivity in Vitiligo
8 Books that can change any vitiligo fighter’s life

3. Introspect

It can take you a while to identify those  habits, behaviors, and things that  contribute to you falling back into negative pitfalls. For instance, other people’s opinions on your appearance can trigger a negative response within yourself. Counteracting such things is not an easy thing to do but when you know what upsets you, it’s so much easier to manage it.

4. Change up your routines

Changing up your routine can help you get motivated and feel more positive and inspired again. When you’re doing the same old thing over and over again, it’s easy for you to think the same old thoughts. Waking up at a different time, changing the position of your bed, taking a different way to work or ordering a different food can give you a fresh perspective.

5. Practice positive thinking

When you are feeling anxious, it is a little difficult to fall asleep because there will be negative, pessimistic thoughts rolling through your mind. To get enough sleep, go to bed, thinking of ten things that you’re grateful for.

6. Use affirmations

Whenever you start thinking a lot of negative thoughts, say some affirmations out loud to make yourself feel better and to help you counteract the thoughts. Even if you don’t fully believe them with your whole heart, saying them out loud will make them feel just a little bit unreal. You can even write them down in a journal.

7. Make an effort

Understand the difference between trying and deciding. When you decide to stay positive, you are making the full decision to go out at full force versus trying where you’re going at it and expecting a chance. Make an effort to stop getting into that victim mentality. Thinking of the bigger picture can always help you get past self-pity.
