Ninu Galot and Gautam Singhania take part in Vitiligo Awareness Campaign

Just like any of us, many celebrities have dealt with vitiligo while living in the public eye. The good news is that many all of them, irrespective of their appearance, have maintained a positive outlook towards life and had a successful career.

However, in today’s airbrushed world, it is incredibly hard for any celeb to openly share his/her vulnerabilities and make it clear that vitiligo should not be subjected to unwanted stares and unkind remarks. But, that’s what Ninu Galot and Gautam Singhania did on the occasion of World Vitiligo Day 2018.

On June 25, Ninu Galot, a British Indian Entrepreneur and Fitness Model, released a short video, which aimed at highlighting the stigma attached to the chronic skin disorder. The footage also featured Gautam Singhania, an Indian textile tycoon who debunked some common myths associated with vitiligo. Like anyone could see in the video, Singhania has extensive vitiligo, but unlike many, he has accepted his uniqueness gracefully. He is the chairman and managing director of the world’s largest producer of worsted suiting fabric – Raymond Group.

Ninu Galot, who has been involved in various vitiligo awareness campaigns for quite some time, noticed her first vitiligo patch when she was 11. After going through several treatments and side-effects of photo therapy, she decided to embrace her “true self”. She took part in Europe’s largest fitness competition, which got her media’s attention worldwide. This, in turn, helped her raise awareness about vitiligo, a skin condition too few people know about.

Ninu is the spokesperson for UK’s Vitiligo Society and was a discussion panelist at World Vitiligo Day 2018 Conference, held in Boston.

‘Unite For Vitiligo’ applauds Ninu Galot and Gautam Singhania who in their capacity educated the public about this neglected skin disorder in a much more proactive and positive way. After all, vitiligo is one of those skin disorders the public holds many misconceptions about.
