Unite for Vitiligo lets vitiligans vent their frustrations out via their latest campaign

Vitiligo Vents

It’s better to let things out than hold them in. Venting your frustrations eases tension and stress. You almost always feel better and lighter. Just in itself, self-expression feels good. Unite For Vitiligo via their latest campaign, Vitiligo Vents, helped vitiligo fighters vent their perceived indignity, misfortune, or injustice out. People around the world, from different age and profession, participated in the social campaign, using the hashtag – #VitiligoVents.

Venting is a 2-way process. It involves the person venting and the person listening to the vent. Clearly, it is not just about the person venting, but equally important, the person who is hearing the vent. When people vent, they may not always need a verbal response. They want someone to listen. Unite For Vitiligo (UFV) fulfilled this need. Vitiligo fighters were given UFV’s social media platforms to vent out their anger and frustration. Here are the best five vents submitted during the campaign.

1. We all know that the exact cause of vitiligo is not known, which translates into no effective treatment available for the chronic skin disorder. Loreen’s vent was around this sad truth.

2. Vitiligo is a condition not many people know about. It can lead to many awkward social situations. Jasmine Lord from Los Angeles mentioned one such funny incident.

3. Some vitiligo fighters find cracking an interview nerve breaking.  Shrishti from Bangalore talks about her experience with an interviewer who was (without being vocal) making her uncomfortable about her skin.

4. Many conversations with strangers come from a genuine place of misunderstanding. Mariah Perkins experienced one such conversation with a guy while she was visiting a store.

 5. While may vitiligo fighters are tormented by strange stares, Nicole from New York turned one such incident around.
