10 Most Attractive Vitiligans (2018) – Women

Most Attractive Vitiligans - women

As part of the skin positivity movement, today, many women with vitiligo are challenging the society’s perceived notions of beauty. They are flaunting their vitiliginous skin publicly and refuse to hide their patches beneath heavy makeup. By speaking their truth, they are sending a message to everyone to love the skin they’re in. We wanted to shortlist such 10 vitiligans who are awe-inspiring for fellow vitiligo fighters and are too attractive to be missed.

For our first annual roundup of the most attractive vitiligans (Women edition), we contacted more than 1200 vitiligo fighters located around the world. Out of them, 400+ participated in an electronic survey and voted for their favorite candidates. More than 70 influencers were shortlisted as candidates for this survey. Voters were asked to vote for each candidate based on their confidence level, positive attitude, likability, presentation skills, and creativity. Let’s see who made to the list of 10 Most Attractive Vitiligans (2018) – Women.

10. Prarthana Jagan

Indian Vlogger, Prarthana was 11 when she was diagnosed with vitiligo. It took her eight long years to ditch makeup and embrace her vitiligo. Prarthana’s success story has been part of many newspapers and online publications in India, including Elle India, Homegrownin, and Grazia. She is probably the country’s first model with vitiligo to walk the ramp.

9. Meri Gutierrez

They say women with curly hair are special, and we couldn’t agree more. There is something about the effortlessness with which Meri tousles her tresses and flaunts her vitiligo. Each one of her Instagram feeds oozes confidence and personality. This could be one of the reasons why this Spanish beauty was voted for the 9th spot on the list.

8. Aiesha Robinson

When Aiesha was diagnosed with vitiligo at 18, she didn’t know how to deal with it. She would often hide in her room, not wanting to go outside. Her brother helped her realize that she could make a difference, not only for herself but for others. Hence a non-profit project, ‘Born to Rise’ was conceived.

In addition to organizing Born to Rise (where speakers are invited to share the story of their personal struggles to inspire others), Aiesha often visits elementary schools to educate young children about vitiligo.

Her growing fan following on Instagram explains why she has been voted for the 7th spot on this list. Barbarhat is also the face of #SejaSuaMarca, a vitiligo awareness campaign created by Caio Braga.

5. Mariah Perkins

Mariah was about twelve years old when she noticed a small spot on her finger. Over the years, vitiligo grew and covered her face. She continued feeling trapped in her own skin until she was 20. Today, she has grown into an adventurous, smart, sexy, down to earth woman who doesn’t let vitiligo define her.

Mariah has been featured in many television shows, radio interviews, online articles and a Barcroft Media YouTube special, known as Shake my Beauty.

4. Lauren Elyse

A makeup artist from Chicago, Elyse admits that it took her a long time to get to a place of self-love and confidence. Part of Elyse’s struggle to embrace her uniqueness came from the fact that there were no strong women with vitiligo that she could look up to for inspiration or guidance. Today, Elyse’s undoubtedly striking skin is being celebrated among her fans on Instagram. Her makeup looks often focus on drawing attention to her facial spots, which has become her trademark lately.

She was featured in a new ad for truBlend Foundation, symbolizing its tagline – “Why trend to blend in when you can choose how to stand out?” Our voters agreed too and voted her for the 3rd spot.

2. Ashley Soto

Ash was diagnosed with vitiligo when she was 12. What started as a few white spots eventually spread to cover about 70% of her body. After hiding it for years, she opened up about the chronic skin disorder through a post on Instagram. “They say your body is a canvas, I’m just painted differently,” she wrote in a long post, response to which was an influx of followers on Instagram.

Since this post, Soto has become an advocate for people with vitiligo and has been spreading awareness about vitiligo creatively – by turning her vitiligo into body art.
